Learning Center
Wesley Freedom UM Church Early Years Learning Center (EYLC) began operating in 1977 as an outreach of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church. The Center ministers to the needs of young children in a Christian atmosphere and fosters physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of each child. The Center seeks to provide a stimulating environment in which each child is free to explore and grow.
Licensing & Curriculum
The Center is licensed by the Maryland Department of Education under the rules and regulations of the State of Maryland.
The curriculum is planned to effectively meet the developmental needs of all the children the Center serves. Opportunities will be given to foster each child’s development as a part of a group.
Preschool
EYLC Preschool provides a variety of options for partial day education for 2, 3, and 4-year-olds. Click the button below to view our brochure with full details.
Extended Day

Our two year-old classrooms have 12 children with 3 teachers. Our three year-old classrooms have 18-20 children with 3 teachers. Our four year-old classrooms have 20 children and 2 teachers.
All our staff is trained in Early Childhood Education and is First Aid/CPR certified. Many of our teachers have extensive backgrounds in the field. Our rate of staff turn-over is low, with some teachers on staff for over 15 years.
We use a variety of tools to keep parents up to date about our classroom happenings. We have a closed Facebook group that updates parents with pictures and information. We also use email and the Remind app to alert parents about upcoming events. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled bi-annually.
