This Sunday we begin the season of Advent with an angel proclaiming, “Fear Not, The Lord has heard your prayer.” This angel foretells the coming of John the Baptist who will prepare God’s people for the coming Messiah, the One who will lead us in the way of peace. This week we will light the candle of hope and pray that through the power of the Spirit we might know peace with God and be those who make a way for peace to be realized in our community and world. We encourage you to make worship the center of your advent journey as we claim space for peace and prayer together.

From the first moments of creation until the final salvation of the world and into eternity, there is one consistent activity we creatures get to do: give thanks to God! This Sunday we will celebrate the end of the Christian calendar year – Christ the King Sunday – by hearing about the reason we always give thanks to God: because from the very beginning, God has been saving us and is saving us and will be holding us in salvation forever!
And from all of us here at Wesley Freedom, Happy Thanksgiving!
