Founded in 1977
Wesley Freedom UM Church Early Years Learning Center was developed, and began operating in 1977 as an outreach of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church. The Center ministers to the needs of young children in a Christian atmosphere which fosters physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. The Center seeks to provide a stimulating environment in which each child is free to experience and grow.
The Center is licensed by the Maryland Department of Education under the rules and regulations of the State of Maryland
The curriculum is planned to effectively meet the needs of all the children the Center serves. Opportunities will be given to foster each child’s development as a part of a group.

When can I enroll my child?
Please contact the center by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone 410-549-2257 to enroll your child for the 2018-2019 school year. Enrollment begins in October 2018 for the 2019-2020 school year.
What is the difference between Preschool and Extended Day Preschool?
Extended Day Preschool provides all-day care from 6:30 am- 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Preschool is a part-time program. Both programs follow a similar curriculum.
How many children and teachers are in each classroom?
Our two-year-old classrooms have up to 12 children and 3 teachers. Our three-year-old classrooms have up to 18 children and 3 teachers. Our four-year-old classrooms have up to 20 children and 2 teachers.
What are the qualifications of teachers and what is rate of staff turn-over?
All our staff is trained in Early Childhood Education and is First Aid/CPR certified. Many of our teachers have extensive backgrounds in the field. Our rate of staff turn-over is very low, with some teachers on staff for over 30 years.
What forms of communication do you use to keep parents updated?
We use a variety of tools to keep parents up to date about our classroom happenings. We have a private Facebook group that updates parents with pictures and information. We also use email and the Remind app to alert parents about upcoming events. Parents can check the “Parent Information Board” posted outside the classroom to see information daily. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled bi-annually.
