Serving the Community
South Carroll Food Pantry
This ministry provides groceries to Carroll County families in need on a monthly basis. Servants are needed to sort and set=up food on Friday and serve our patrons on Saturday at Wesley Freedom. Food or financial donations are also welcome.
Feed My Sheep
We offer a hot-meal to guests in the Wesley Freedom Community Life Center every Monday, Thursday, and Friday at noon. Servants from various churches and community organizations prepare and clean up. Volunteer opportunities are available.
Thanksgiving Meal Boxes
This is a family opportunity to package, at Wesley Freedom, ingredients needed for a full Thanksgiving family meal that are distributed to those in need.
Love to Bake
Servants are needed to bake goods at selected times of the year to provide treats to different local community service organizations.
His Table Lunch Program
Servants are needed to pack approximately 75 lunches, at Wesley Freedom, three times per year, to be distributed to families in need out of St. Paul’s UMC in Sykesville.
Angel Tree Christmas Gifts
We provide gifts to underprivileged children during Christmas. Look for the Christmas tree at the November Annual Bazaar. Servants needed to sort and deliver gifts.
We partner with the American Red Cross on several blood drives every year. Servants are needed to set-up, tear down but mostly to donate blood.
Shepherd’s Staff (Westminster)
Throughout the year, we support this organization with monetary gifts and special collections of school supplies, spiritual Easter baskets, clothing and toiletry items. Volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute at Wesley Freedom. More servant opportunities are available at Shepherd’s Staff Westminster location.
Cold Weather Shelter
(Human Services Programs of Carroll County)
We prepare and serve dinner at this homeless shelter in Westminster between November and March. Servants are needed to prepare casseroles or donate food items two times per month. We also need teams of people to serve the meals.
Springfield Hospital Visits
Servants visit with the patients at Springfield several times per year. We need people to donate food and drinks, help with crafts and set up the snacks.
Rising Above Addiction
We support this non-profit organization throughout the year with monetary donations and our physical presence at their events, such as a 5-mile run/walk. Our goal is to help Rising Above Addiction fulfill their goal of providing drug treatment for youth in Carroll County.
We show our support to our veterans by donating and packaging items for gift bags, making cards and by visiting the VA Hospitals. Servants are needed throughout the year for projects.
Ramp it Up
This is a mission that builds accessible ramps for Veterans. Servants are needed for the initial planning to the actual construction of the ramps.
Good News Prison Ministry
Support this ministry by donating gift cards for gasoline to be used by those recently released so they can attend job interviews and work release programs.
Birthday Bingo at Transitions Healthcare (Sykesville) –
Servants visit the folks at Transitions on the third Tuesday of every month, 6:45-8pm. We play bingo and throw birthday parties for the residents.
Missions Around the World
Bikes for the World
We collect used bicycles to be donated overseas. One day in June volunteers gather to collect used bicycles and prepare them to be shipped abroad to developing countries. Bikes for the World “enhances their lives and livelihood through better transportation”.
Belize Missionary – Lisa Williams
Lisa works with mission volunteer teams in 7 circuit school districts, helping with 18 different schools in Corozal Town.
Cambodia Missionary – Clara Mridula Biswas
Clara works with the poorest of poor, especially children in slum areas and garbage areas to facilitate their transfers to relocation and rehabilitation centers in Phnom Penh.

Kids Creating Kindness
This is a group of our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who have a passion for missions. They participate in the Junior Market of the Sykesville Farmers Market in downtown Sykesville in the summer. They meet together to decide upon different missions to support and create market items, packaging and presentation. They then collect donations for their products on Market Day.
